Teacher Training




Jan 12th Staff from Athy College take time to explore the new Key Skills method of teaching with Annette and Majella from NCCA. Teachers from the college are to the forefront nationally in developing teaching methods and programmes and this work in continuing this year.

Media Studies

Leaving Certs. recently spent a day working on their interview skills, in preparation for the forthcoming LCVP examinations.
The course was funded by the KITE initiative and was delivered by Ian and Conal from NUI Maynooth. Students had lots of fun gaining experience and confidence in front of the camera and microphone.

Building for the Future



College construction is going well as the New Year begins and looks well on target. Road markings, zebra crossing, entrances and drop off areas have been well defined over the holiday period and progress should be visible almost on a daily basis.

CHRISTMAS IS COMING


All JCSP classes hosted their annual Christmas Celebration for their families and teachers on Thursday, December 11th. The atmosphere was happy, the decorations were seasonal, the food was scrumptious and the work on display was excellent!

BOOK CLUB

The Book Club for first and second years is a new departure and is proving to be lots of fun! We're already reviewing our third novel. Thanks to Co Kildare Library for supplying the books and to all students for their enthusiam. We're looking forward to our Christmas meeting - treats guaranteed!
(There's a waiting list of interested students - now that's a measure of success!)

Thats My Goal



Congratulations to the students of the college who raised €250 for GOAL through the Jersey Day earlier this year. And to receive the money on behalf of GOAL was Karen O'Shea, a name synonymous with the charity. Karen spoke to the students about the work of the organisation and where the donation would be used

Congratulations to Daisy Delaney and Joshua Adido who are among the six students selected from the county to represent Kildare on Comhairle na nÓg. Not a bad achievement for the school when out of the six from the county two are from Athy College
